Prof. Meng-Chou Lee collaborated with Prof. Wen-Ling Shih at National Pingtung University of Science and Technology to aquaculture the Sea Grapes at industrial scale and develop new skincare products. Prof. Shih indicated that with advances in biotechnology, consumers have begun to pay more attention to natural cosmetics. The development and production of the Sea Grape extracts have been conducted in compliance with international certification, including evaluation methodologies for product safety and effectiveness. Resulting data confirms that functional additives of Sea Grape extracts are of significant moisturizing and anti-wrinkle effects.
Prof. Shih specializes in molecular cell biology. In recent years, she focused on research of essential oils and product development from raw materials for biotech cosmetics. Her tests on fern algae extracts confirmed that these extract demonstrate exceptional water absorption and water retention effects while showing anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory activities. Further tests using artificial skin have also confirmed the addition of these extracts in skincare products with skin-soothing effects.
Prof. Meng-Chou Lee specializes in algae breeding, cultivation and algae molecular biology. Prof. Lee has been long-term counsellor for artificial algae cultivation industry, and has also been developing artificial cultivation technology for small fern algae and establishing Taiwan native species algae cultivation and production technology at industrial scale.
Home Algae Biotech Co., Ltd. therefore cooperated with Prof. Lee and acquired patent license in breeding the freshest Taiwan native species fern microphylla Sea Grape at industrial scale as well as the professional elite technology in extraction of the essence.
